Michigan’s agricultural industry is a critical service and may continue to operate, according to the Executive Order (EO 2020-21) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Monday, March 23.
The “stay home, stay safe” order takes effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 and will continue to be in effect through Monday, April 13 at 11:59 p.m. Additional guidance on critical infrastructure related to the agricultural industry can be found on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) website.
The health and safety of those working in the agricultural industry remains a priority. Every effort to maintain social distancing and follow best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 is encouraged.
As the governor mentioned, in the past 13 days, Michigan has gone from having no cases of COVID-19 to having more than 1,000 people sickened by the virus.
The Agricultural Leaders of Michigan (ALM) will continue to monitor developments and provide updates to our members as the situation calls for.
